I recommend Skinny Bones by Barbara Park. Skinny Bones is funny so please add it on the book list. If you’re up for more excitement after you read Skinny Bones, read Almost Starring Skinny Bones. Funny stories you don't want to miss out on!!!!
Megan, 10, Texas
I love the books The Egypt Game and The Gypsy Game by Zilpha Keatley Snyder. The books are about six kids who play these two games but get involved in some very dangerous, but thrilling adventures. April, Marshall, and an old professor help catch a dangerous murderer in The Egypt Game. These are two really great books!
Kayla, 9, New York
Shel Silverstein's books Light in the Attic and Where the Sidewalk Ends are for anyone who loves poems - especially funny ones! He keeps you entertained all through the books. I highly recommend them both.
Emily, 12, Kentucky
My fave book of all time is I, Coriander by Sally Gardner. This is a phenomenal book that sucks you into the story of Coriander. Throughout the story I felt as if I were Coriander. It has just a little bit of romance and everything else mixed in. It's enchanting and exciting, yet sad and emotional. This fantasy is sure to become one of your favorites!
Mikayla, 10, Missouri
Girls between the age of 9 and 12 should read Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret by Judy Blume. My mom read it when she was my age and she said it was a really good book. I have to agree with her on that. It is based on real things that happened to Judy Blume. It is about a girl that moves to a new state. She is starting sixth grade in a new school. At school, she meets some girls that she becomes friends with. They make a club and meet once a week. One of the club rules is that whoever gets their period first has to tell everyone else about it. They also agree on keeping boy books and sharing it with everyone else at each meeting. They stop after two weeks because they all like a boy in their class and put him as number one. I think every girl should read this because it is about growing up and how Margaret experienced life.
You, too, can share your thoughts about books: What book would you recommend to a girl your age? Why?
